How this calculator works
JSON is the language APIs speak, but raw JSON from a real response is a single unbroken line nobody can read. A JSON formatter, sometimes called a JSON beautifier or pretty printer, takes that dense blob and re-indents it with proper line breaks so the structure is visible at a glance. Paste any JSON into the tool above and press Format: nested objects get indented, arrays stack vertically, and mismatched brackets stop being a mystery.
Validation is the part that saves hours. A missing comma, a trailing comma, or a stray quote produces an error that a plain text editor will never find for you. This validator parses with the browser's own JSON engine and reports the exact line and column where parsing failed, plus the engine's own error text, so you can jump straight to the broken spot. Use Minify when you need to shrink a payload for a request body or a config file: it strips every unnecessary space and newline in one click.
The tree view is the fastest way to explore deep API responses. Every object and array collapses to a one-line summary, so you can drill into exactly the branch you care about without scrolling through thousands of lines. The stat chips show the JSON's depth, total key count and value count at a glance, useful when sizing up an unfamiliar API response. And if the response is a list of records, JSON to CSV flattens it into a spreadsheet-ready file: header row plus one row per object, with quoting handled correctly.
Everything happens locally in your browser with the same JSON parser your apps use. Nothing you paste is uploaded, logged or stored, so it is safe to format API responses containing test data. The copy button puts the result on your clipboard in one click, and Download saves it as a .json file (or .csv after a conversion). Pair it with the UUID Generator when you need fresh identifiers for test payloads, and the Password Generator for API keys and secrets.
